Courses Taught:
Biology
We offer A & B Courses for Biology. Biology is the study of life and we discuss every aspect of what defines life and how to live well. We use microscopes, study cells, research modern genetics, learn the history, present, and future of Evolution and Ecology, along with providing an introduction to Dissection using frogs, worms, and starfish. |
Ecology
If you have a love of nature or a passion for the environment, then this is the course for you. We examine organisms and their interactions with their environments. We do research on advances in technology to better the environment along with the mutations and changes in organisms due to pollution. |
Physical Science
This course is a fun and exciting introduction to Chemistry and Physics. A big focus on discussions and hands-on education. |
Running Start Anatomy & Physiology
This is an advanced science course that follows the curriculum of WMCC. This class does an in-depth study of the body systems along with focusing on personal wellness. What's Anatomy without dissection? Currently, we are dissecting pigs which is an organism that is closely related to the human body. |
Running Start Chemistry
Chemistry is also an advanced science course that follows the curriculum of WMCC. While maintaining the rigorous expectations of the college course I work to bring the fun into a Chemistry class with regular labs. We work on polymers with slime and bouncy balls. We look at chemical reactions with the Carbon Snake and burning Magnesium Ribbons. The distillation and filtration labs are yearly favorites. |
Bio
I have been working in education since 2009. After achieving my Masters of Education in 2018 I joined the Colebrook Academy team. I have an undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry. Here at the High School, I teach the required courses of Biology and Physical Science. I also offer two Running Start Courses, Anatomy & Physiology, along with Chemistry. This year we added Forensic Science as an elective. When there is room in the schedule we also offer Ecology. I love to travel with my family every year. One year I went to Myrtle Beach and got to feed a white tiger. Last year we visited the Hoover Dam and I finally got to see the source of power that I teach about in class. One of my favorite places to visit is the Boston Museum of Science, which is an endless source of entertainment and knowledge.
