Take a look at our February so far!

"Music is life. That is why our hearts have beats." - Anonymous

Check out what our students have been up to in the music room!

4th Grade: Beginning instrumentalists are on their way to rocking out with the elementary band! Be sure to keep up with your practicing; 15-20 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week! Our 4th grade general music class has been preparing some very special treats for the curriculum fair, so be on the look out for the 4th grade class on the night of March 16th!

5th Grade: Students have completed the Baroque era portion of our Music History unit. We learned about composers like Vivaldi, Handel and Bach, as well as instruments of the time, and characteristics of the music. We have begun the Classical era, enjoying the more simple, soothing sounds of the era. Students are exploring composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, Haydn and Mozart. Students will continue to explore the Classical period up to February vacation.

6th grade: The 6th grade class has been working with the Kindergarten creating an 'audio book' for the alphabet! Using our knowledge of Foley sounds, soundscapes and technology, the 6th grade class is guiding the Kindergarten along on an adventure of noise making creativity! Be sure to check out these projects at the curriculum fair on March 16th as well!

7th grade guitar lab: The 7th graders are taking off with the guitars! In 4 weeks, the students have learned four chords, how to read guitar tabs, perform "Twinkle Little Star," and have begun "Row Your Boat." The students will begin projects after vacation, as well as learning "Good Riddance" by Green Day. This class is very focused, and want to learn as much on the guitar as they can! We are all looking forward to the next 4 weeks!
