Mrs. Moren - Grade 3

At the request of Mr. Gorham (CES Principal), Mrs. Noyes (SAU #7 Office of Student Wellness), and Mr. Topliffe (CES School Counselor), the following information regarding state testing will be posted on all grades 3—8 websites.

We will be taking the New Hampshire State Wide Assessment Test on the following dates:


April 4, 2018 (9:00—11:00 a.m.) ~ Third Grade ELA Summative

Thursday, May 3, 2018 (9:00—11:00 a.m.) ~ Third Grade  Math Summative

Please support your child during this testing by using the tips below!  Thank you for your continued support to CES schools and your child/children!

1.  Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before testing.

2.  Provide your child with a healthy meal the morning of testing.

3.  Talk with your child about trying their best on testing!  Let them know that trying, taking their, and reading questions completely will lead to the best scores they can get!

4.  Let your child know that if they have nerves or are worried about testing they can talk to one of the counselors.

Week of April 30- May 4
  Book orders are usually sent out the first Friday of the month. Book Club online number is located in your child's homework journal.


  These are the topics I plan to cover this week:

Spelling -   Words with suffixes y, ish, hood, ment

 Reading -  The class will be reading Me and Uncle Romie  by Clare Hartfield.  We will be working on the research skill of outlining.

Social Studies -     We will read a Scholastic News discussing " Lizards on the Loose " . We will work in our map skills book learning about  bodies of water.

 Science -  We will continue in our Health Unit reading Chapter 2 in our Healthy Body Energy to Live  book about foods. We will be learning about vitamins and nutrients found in our food. We will also spend time reading nutrition labels to determine healthy choices. 

Math -   We will be learning about decimals and how they are related to fractions. We will have a test over fractions and decimals on Thursday. Students should be practicing with their multiplication flashcards nightly.

Language -   We will learn about comparative and superlative adverbs this week. We will be writing poetry focusing on couplets, Cinquain, and Diamante. Cursive upper-case letters we will be learning this week are X,I, and W. 

We have a student with tree nut allergy. Please be careful when sending items for school parties.
